I have three doubts regarding the 'DATA GENERATOR' in LARS-WG.
In the generator option, I have selected the Scenario as 'CMIP5', then I selected a particular 'GCM', then concentration pathway as 'RCP4.5', then period as '2021-2040' and finally No. Years as '1000'. So, I get 1000-year of synthetic data in a file.
1. What is the starting date i.e. in YY-MM-DD and ending date of that 1000-years of data ?
2. If I select 2021-2040, I am supposed to get the future data for the 2021-2040, so shall I put 20 instead of 1000?
3. What we get when we select the 'BASELINE' as an option in the generator tab? With whom I will compare that data? and also What is the starting and ending date of that 'BASELINE' generated data?
First you compare one year observed data with generated data...If the data is in close proximity then only do the further process....Try marksim weather generator....And nasa larc power....these might clear your further doubts

I have done the exercise mentioned by you before posting this question. The generated data is in close proximity w/the observed data. I have worked on MarkSim, for my region of study, i.e. The Himalayas, the results were extremely erroneous.
I asked this question to the officials of LARS-WG today, got some Idea about the synthetic data generation.
Answer to my questions:
1. If we generate 1000 years of data, it represents the typical sample for the specific period you have opted, there is no starting or ending date.
2. Yes
3. Same as answer number 1. It can be compared with observed data.
