i think a lot depends on your definition of sustainable. how do or will you measure it, and how do you define it?
As Brian points out, it does depend on the definition of sustainability. For example, if sustainability is defined as obtaining less fluctuating income, then this leads to fewer risks, and consequently to more profits (if only because investors will be more inclined to invest in the company).
But more generally, what we mean by sustainability is the search for corporate social responsibility (CSR). By being better integrated into their economic, environmental and social environment, businesses will be more profitable in the long term.
Numerous studies are available on sustainable business advantage, however, all are dependent on the indicators of sustainability.
You can measure financial improvement as well as business sustainability in different ways. So you can design your research base on these assumptions.
