The concept of "Green technology" needs to be fully understand in order to asses the impact of any new developments and the measurement thereof. A fundamental requirement of the engineering profession is the ability to optimise available resources. This definition is a prerequisite and fundamental towards "Green" technologies. Advanced training and experience will, per definition, result in considerable advantages in terms of better utilisation of resources and optimisation of designs which will automatically result in the implementation of "Green" Technologies. Unfortunately procurement processes focusing on costs will not take these facts into account which results in superficial post-design emphasis on "Green" technology measurements when it is already too late to optimise resources during the construction phase.
