India is one of the largest producer and consumer of milk in the world. The demand for milk is very high compare to supply. Though there is a great demand for milk but why cooperative societies are not successful as like AMUL( Anand Milk Union Limited ) in Gujarat. So why can't we replicate the same AMUL milk Union in other States too. Please suggest the best methods to strengthen the milk unions in India.
1. Many states in India have very successful milk cooperative societies running in the APCOS Model (Anand pattern cooperative societies) and also as independent traditional models.

So in my opinion any state in India can develop a cooperative system of dairy farmers if they follow any of the successful models with required leadership, farmers cooperation and government support.
Based on experience in my country, I propose to give priority to milk quality by encouraging the best breeders. You should also think about processing your milk at the cooperative level and create your own specific dairy products.
