Payment for Ecological Services (PES) is a method of transforming the non-market and external value of environmental services into financial incentives for environmentalists

In recent decades, PES has developed rapidly. PES projects aim to provide or ensure ecosystem and environment-related services through value exchange in management practices. Now, there are more than PES projects around the world, and the annual transaction volume is estimated to be between 36 and 42 billion US dollars. However, payment for PES is a very novel policy tool. At the national and regional levels, depending on the local conditions, there can be very diverse implementation methods, and the paid items usually vary greatly.

PES plans can be divided into three types: PES implemented by the government, PES implemented by non-governmental organizations, and PES implemented by private companies.

Thank you for comment and provided reference. It's very helpful to learn your case and how things are with PES in Brazil and in Latin America. Despite natural-climatic conditions are quite different (Armenia is located in northern edge of subtropical climate zone and has very mountainous terrain- 1850 m average altitude a.s.l.) but management approaches and market solutions could be adapted to local conditions.

Ecosystem services vary from one ecological zone to another. I e the services should be classified based on the kind of benefit they provide. Is from these benefits that one can determine their importance and hence contribution to

sustainable development. At this point, one will be able to trace the data based on classification/ nature/ importance with certainty.
