Sperms have sense of smell, this is coming in new studies, but how it is possible or true and what are its benefits, how can we utilize techniques to solve the problem of male infertility, some publications also show some receptors found in nose which also controls the sperm, further need some publications and review to clarify these studies.
Selection of one sperm out of billions for fertilization with a single egg it must be supported by scientific justification like receptors etc no idea about that but very interesting to go for that

In fertilization, there is a "sense" in the gradient of some molecular so it orienting the spermatozoon in the "right direction". But that "taily guy with the one sex chromosome (usually in mammals)" is not an absolute "cruise missile". The liquid flow pays even more important role on the cell's orientation and direction of its movement.

I did not deny that, chemical attraction might exist but it is not important as the flow orientation. Only when a sperm with a close vicinity and here is no serious flow, the cell would go to the the ova. it is easy to check, and it makes full sense.
Saying "odorant reception" and "nose" for sperm it's just silly. Americans like some childish analogies to sale the product (and science is a product) that sort of positive moving to the increased concentration (toward the gradient) - of smth, which, is called chemotaxis , that has nothing to do with the oflactory receptors in higher animals. We shall not simplify the thing: a spermatozoon, while having a head, has no brain in it and no nose on it! It ineded has a tale, which moves the cells but that doesn't make it fish either. ALL folks here undoubtedly know how the spermatozoon's parts were given human/animal names in late Medieval times when theywere first seen it under microscope. But t is just a historical analogy.
Chemo-attracivity is also working where sperm is stored and capacitated, e. g. in the uterotubal junction.

Comment form the biophysical standpoint: the movement of sperm against the microfludic flow has been a well known phenomenon and has no relation with chemotaxis. And I agree with you: to equate chemoreception and determination of the vector of the chemical gradient with the "nose" is a bit childish but all this childish stuff has been becoming popular in the American scientific "pop culture". It is not a unique case when you receive an add from a respectful grant Gov-t (sic!) agency or Biotech Co that sounds like an invitation to play an another version of a popular computer game. Makes me feel awkward but that's probably MY problem.
