I recently conducted a cross sectional study called "Knowledge and attitudes of medical students towards clinical research". IT revealed that the students low research productivity is directly correlated to the low scientific productivity of the faculty staff. However, it did not show any correlation with the type of high school the students attended during their secondary education stage.
As these were subsidiary data, i believe more studies are needed to answer that question.

I believe that scientists/professors and funding have more impact on university/institute research quality output. Students are raw

In my opinion the student scientific production is a decisive factor in the success of a university, defend the principle that increasing this indicator increases the presitigio the center in question.

La quinta edición de la Beca de Investigación Quincke otorgó, por primera vez en Cuba, el Premio de Investigación en Fisiología para no graduados (LURAP por sus siglas en inglés) que correspondió al estudiante de medicina de quinto año William Castillo González, de la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas "Miguel Enríquez" de la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de La Habana.
William es alumno-ayudante e instructor no graduado y realiza sus investigaciones en LABCEL. Este premio lo otorga la American Physiological Society (APS) para reconocer la excelencia en la investigación en Fisiología realizada por estudiantes no graduados en la institución donde estudian.
El premio consistió en un certificado, una inscripción anual como miembro de la APS y otros materiales.
El estudiante es de nuestra universidad, de la Facultad Miguel Enríquez a la cual pertenezco y en la foto que no pude pagar aqui aparece uno de nuestros investigadores mas esforzados y difundidos investigadores, el Dr Dorta.
Ya vez es muy reconfortante saber que la juventud desde el pregrado tambien esta motivada a investigar, solo hay que estimularla y de ello somos nosotros responsables. Saludos. Dra. leonor
