A friend of mine sent me an email message containing the following comment...
"Our closest living relatives are the chimps and gorillas.
Both of them have 13 pairs of ribs. Human beings have only 12 pairs. I wonder what happened to the other pair...... "
I really know nothing about these matters but I was wondering if it is true, do the apes have thirteen pairs of ribs?

Chimpanzees generally have one more thoracic, one less lumbar vertebra, and one less caudal vertebra than do humans. Both normally have seven cervical vertebrae and normally the combined thoracic, lumbar, and sacral regions consists of 22 vertebrae. Chimpanzees lack the extreme curves of the human column, and the angle between the lumbar and sacral region is more acute.
It is beautiful to behold the form change from one vertabra to the next. This can even be a meditation to picture the life force metamorphosis. Absolute GENIUS to develop this sequence to support the frame in all of its movements and postures.
