As we know there are 2 type of knowledge, tacit and explicit. Usually an organization will try to capture or codify tacit knowledge, so it will become organizational knowledge. That is the origin of management of knowledge is use for. But we also know that while the people interact within the organization making a social network, slowly their knowledge will be disseminate using tacit to tacit transfer. Maybe it is possible to sum or recreate a person knowledge from his/her peer/social network.
Is there any method to quantify this kind of knowledge storage? Or in the other hand, it is possible to make a methodology to quantify it so it also become an organizational knowledge?

Thank you very much G. Stephen , that are 2 great paper about methodology to quantify knowledge. But the overall question remain, it is possible to accumulate or store a person knowledge within a social network? How to detect this and how to measure so the knowledge that has been stored in social network can be acknowledge as organizational knowledge? If that question can be answered, a organization that suddenly loss critical member/s can still function enough if the knowledge that has been store in social network can be identified. If the knowledge need to be recover from codified/explicit form, it need time to learn it, and it will be much longer if the organization need to find replacement
Quite true Hermann Gruenwald . I just realize it, but RG model is more to explicit/codified knowledge, not tacit knowledge that reside in social network
Hermann Gruenwald , what I mean is to store tacitly within the fabric of social network itself. For example, a person is always communicating with its peers in his/her office, slowly his/her knowledge is transferred tacitly by using socialization in Nonaka SECI model. Now, maybe it is possible to recreate or retrieve that person knowledge through interviewing its peers. That what I mean. How to detect, and quantified that kind of stored knowledge, so organization is aware of it, thats the question
Hermann Gruenwald , no, what I mean is mostly through off line social network, when a person talk with each other, or looking what the other have done in an organization, they slowly acquiring knowledge tacitly. It is also possible through online social network, by communicating with each other.
If an organization can quantified this kind of stored knowledge, than the organization can benefit from it, ultimately add it to its intangible capital
Correct Hermann Gruenwald , parts of its is learning. But to know and quantify what people already learn is difficult. Maybe there is a methodology to do that?
Maybe I will do that next year when a new research project come in Hermann Gruenwald . A new research project mean people will disseminate their knowledge about research theme. I will try to make an objective methodology to do so.
