I am looking for ways to compare recharge of groundwater and determine if precipitation has more of an effect on groundwater levels before or after restoration? My data set contains a time series of groundwater levels and precipitation. I want to determine recharge from my groundwater levels and then compare those recharge amounts before and after restoration to precipitation. Can I do this with simple correlation between precipitation and recharge amounts and determine that the scenario with the highest correlation is the most impacted by precipitation?

Are you able to collect data on e.g. two sites, both before restoration, and then after one was restored?
Salvatore S. Mangiafico I have collected data for 5 different sites each before and after restoration.
Correlation can give a general picture but can be elusive in giving causality. You try multiple regression with GW level as dependent variable and Precipitation, Dummy for restoration (0 before and 1 after), and another Dummy for sites (0 to 4 - site 0 is control) as independent variables. It all depends on how many observations you have to get a reasonable degree of freedom.
All the sites had restoration done? And these were all done about the same time?
Salvatore S. Mangiafico Restoration of all sites occurred over one year (Dec 2017 -Dec 2018). Each site was a different time period as the construction company worked it's way from the headwaters down through the watershed. I have a before restoration period of data from 2015-2017 and after restoration period of 2018-2021.
