Hello,

I have mixed pure clay minerals with two substrates. The clay minerals (quartz, illite, vermiculite and montmorillonite) were mixed with oxalic acid at different concentrations. In another side, I have mixed the same clay minerals type with glucose at different concentrations. at the end of the experiments, I dried the minerals at 50 degrees for 3 days. Now I am trying to measure the specific surface area of these minerals using the N2-BET methods. I heat the minerals at 150 degrees for 24hours before BET measurement and the results that I got surprised me. There are some of them:

SSA Vermiculite pure: 6.6354;

SSA Illite pure: 5.0218

SSA montmorillonite pure: 77, 4288

For the mixture, the results of SSA is lower than that above. Is there anyone who can help me to know what was wrong?

Thanks
