For some reason SPSS recognizes my all-number variables as string values. So I cannot analyse them, for example by running correlations. I get the error message the the function cannot be run on "string variables". Any idea where this error might arise from?
Minitab does not produce this error message for exactly same data-sets!

Hi There,
You probably need to click 'variable view' (bottom) and change the variable to numeric.

Very good advice! Do you know what I should be doing to the data in Excel so I do not have to change them manually every time in SPSS?
