The accurate modelling of the sliding lid problem is a challenging task in SPH. If the simulation remains stable, the initially formed clusters or other non-physical structures may be eliminated automatically. Nevertheless, a more uniform particle distribution can be achieved by the application of the particle shifting technique (PST), which works as a diffusion of the position field of the particles.
