In general the band gap of any nano -photosemiconductoris decreased with the increasing of crystal size, but some time the bg is increased with increased a crystal size.Why?
It's better to rearrange the question in the form, "the energy gap depends on nanosize particles or crystals---"
the energy gap in semiconductors increase with the decrease of nano size a in the range of 100nm and down. But the major effect will begin at about 12nm and down to its crytical size
