Is OSA screening in hospital inpatients a standard?
Once the screening is complete, beyond informing the physician and patient, what follow-up is required by the hospital to avoid any risk?

I do not believe OSA testing is standard unless and until attending physician suspects the symptoms. As far as follow up goes, it all depends on the provider but recommended practice that once patient discharges a proper follow should be done based on the defined protocol where critical information should be saved and passed to the care giver. Monitoring can be done via wirelessly extracting data from the PAP machine if patient is on the OSA therapy.
Screening for a possible Dx of OSA has been incorporated by many hospital systems in the assessment of patient's who are expected to have surgery.
If screening suggests a high probability of the OSA>testing and implementation of therapy would be ideal.
Does anyone have information about the percentage of OSA in the commercial driving public as opposed to the non commercial driving public?
