I am not able to figure out the experiment they have done, even the video they show is a bit of a mystery for me.
Another question I have is that, is photon polarization different from electromagnetic wave polarization?
Concerning the second question, I think that in certain sense the answer can be -YES. If we have linearly polarized wave and the transition allowing absorption of circularly polarized photon, then a photon can be absorbed. Polarization of absorbed photon will be circular, while polarization of transmitted wave will become slightly elliptical.
