There are several methods to grow single crystals. They are extensively described in countless (and very voluminous) monographs. Which method you choose depends on what you would like to synthesize. A thorough literature search regarding the materials of your interest will always yield the best method for the single-crystal growth.

Vapor and layer diffusions are my go to crystallization techniques. They both involve dissolving your compound in some solvent and using a precipitant to crash out the compound slowly. I usually do these at low temperatures as well (-20 to -40C) to ensure slow rates of diffusion to prevent powder from crashing out and also assist in cooling the solvent to form crystals as well. Michael Gau's MIT site provides answer. To add to that I will follow this. Find a solvent in which your compound is sparingly soluble. Prepare a saturated solution in that solvent at room temperature. You may heat excess solid in the solvent and cool to room temperature. (This itself may give crystals if cooling is done very very slowly).

Find a solvent in which your compound is absolutely not soluble. All to diffuse this solvent into your above solution prepared in a sparingly soluble solvent. This will happen slowly if the vapor pressure of the solvent that you are diffusing is little higher than that of the solvent in which you prepared your saturated solution. If vapor pressure data is not available use boiling point as a guideline.

Your question is not precise and even not stated which type of materials to be grown. So that it is difficult to suggest the correct method. If your interest is in semiconductor bulk crystal growths (II-VI and III-V) then you may use the vertical directional solidification (VDS). Yes, you must specify the materials you wish to grow in single crystal from. The field is huge, from proteins to silicon to sapphire, and thousands in between. The simplest solution is to do an internet search for "single crystal growth of (name of substance)"

to grow single crystal you must choose suitable solvent up to your compound..usually ligand is easier than complexes to grow crystal

Many substances may be grown in single crystal form without the need of a solvent, by direct solidification of the substance from its molten form, for example (silicon, sapphire, many semiconductor compounds etc.). Melt growth techniques include the Czochralski method, Horizontal and Vertical Bridgman, Vertical Gradient Freeze and even Zone Melting under controlled conditions. Other materials may be produced in single crystal form by sublimation from the solid at elevated temperatures and subsequent condensation at a lower temperature. This is why the substance(s) of interest must be specified, as is stated above by Andrzej Grechnik and Dattatray Gadkari.
