Hi everyone,

I am working with zircon trace element data for A-type granites (peralkaline and metaluminous) and syenites (metaluminous). Y/Hf is a good chemical discriminant for these rocks: peralkaline granites and less evolved syenites have higher Y/Hf.

My question is: what is the petrogenetic significance of Y/Hf ratios in zircon? Can I combine them with EHf to track crustal contamination? (all rocks have variably and negative EHf values; the "less negative" values are found in the syenites)

thank you
