Is it carious class 5 or non-carious? There was an interesting study in Quintessence Int 2017 evaluating Dyract service in class 5 after 20 years showing 70 percent success.
the glass ionomer has a high solubility, a composite can to get best results, depending of the depth of your preparation you can use a thin liner of glass ionomer and composite as final layer. the combination of composite and glass ionomer (compomer) is a bad mix because you canot get a good material mixing a hydrofilic (GI) and hydrophobic material (composite)
if the cavity extends on the root, use RMGI, if not, you can use composite

i think it is a controversial idea because it depends on cavity borders.
if your preparation extend to root surface i highly recommend COMPOMER due to his torsion resistance which is 44 MPa and the second choice is MRGI .
But if you are repair an interior teeth and their is a major need for a cosmetic reparation you should use micro-filled composite with state-of-the-art bond system even though on root surface
In restoring anterior teeth composite is preferable due to durability and aesthetic properties. For posterior teeth glass ionomer or sandwich technique is preferable due to plaque accumulation at the gingival site that is prone to secondary caries.
