From time to time I see articles (for instance in my RG feed) with a title in capslock.
I personally find it harder to read and writing titles in capslock is considered a bad practice on other platforms (e.g. YouTube).
Shouldn't researchers attract attention by using an original title and write about interesting topics (with interesting results) instead of just "shouting"?
I would like to know some of your opinions, fellow researchers.
Yes, I am wondering of the same as well, initially I though they were using a certain format for citation, but I notice that there are no particular style that is using full capitalization for the title. I do agree, it does sound like they are "shouting".
If you pull a reference into Mendeley with the title in capitals, you then have to edit it, so I would definitely recommend using lower-case for titles.
When you use uppercase for your titling it is possible errors in spelling may not be detected.
In the typewriter days (before computers), there was no way of using a larger font for the heading. So, to indicate its importance, it was typed all in capitals. Even with the advent of computers, some societies retained the instruction in their style guides that the title had to be in capitals. When such papers were cited, the cut and paste preserved the capital letters. But we have moved beyond that stage today to ensure that titles are not just legible, but also easily readable.
