I have samples digested using Nitric Acid and I want to meausre the Lead Pb concetration in them using Microwave Plasma-AES . Should I acidify the Lead Standards to calibrate the instrument? if yes, which acid should I use, Nitric acid or HCl to cidify them?
The standard solution of metals already acidic so no need to added acid to standard but added acid to samples only Prof Dr fathi kamel

Fathi Awad This is required to decrease the pH value of a solution & hence make the solution acidic. This is mainly done to prevent reactions from happening at certain PH. Or Maybe to make it soulable to some extent in aqauous soultion.
My Lead Standards are made from Pb(NO3)2 stock solution. So at what PH Lead will have reaction with any contamination and why should acidiy it ? please someone explain.
You are added Nitric acid as perseving reagent so the sample will be acidic PH less than 7
