I am conducting research into barriers and constraints that affect local agricultural producers. As part of the research project I want to include an asset map. I am wondering if identifying local social entrepreneurs would be beneficial?
I would think that depends on your research question. Does the addition of the map help you answer the research question or is it just extra information that is not directly related to the research question or purpose of the study? With that answer, you would be able to decide on the relevance of using a asset map that includes social entrepreneurs.
It depends indeed, as Richard says above, on what are your research questions. So barriers and constraints affecting farmers in what? Production, market access, farm management, diversification and multi-functionality? For maintaining current production systems or innovating systems? In the latter case, we found social entrpreneurs can act as a kind of 'innovation champion'.
