and I wanna know what's the usage of shock wave compression?I mean what this method can normally be used for in rock engineering?
It can be used for example so-called self-consistent harmonic approximation.

I think that the molecular dynamics of shock wave compression used in this paper can be applied to lock engineering. This is because the calculated result well agrees with the experimental value derived from the Rankine-Hugoniot equation up to 25 GPa. However, since BKS semi-empirical potential can not be applied above 25 GPa, it is necessary to create new potentials.
