Hello everyone,

I am currently conducting research on the history of mining and labor relations in 19th and 20th century Britain, and I came across a reference to Men, Mines and Memoriesby Sir Richard Redmayne. This book is a rare and valuable source that discusses his experiences and insights as a mining engineer during that period.

Unfortunately, I am unable to access a full copy of this book at the moment, and I am wondering if anyone here has a digital copy or would be willing to share the first chapter of the book. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am particularly interested in the first chapter as it covers his birth, education, technical training at the Durham University School of Science, apprenticeship in a coal mine, and especially how this experience laid the foundation for his later triple identity as an engineer-manager-supervisor.

Thank you in advance for any assistance!
