I'm interested in comments/ research or experiences incorporating semaglutide or similar for weight loss with other psychopharmacologies or therapies in treating depression. It seems many patients suffering depression are also unhappy with their weight. If semaglutide or similar pharmaceutical is used and successful for a patient, is there a positive correlation in reduction of symptoms of depression. Also, advice and comments/ validity of considering weight loss issues (as in long term difficulties with weight loss or yo yo dieting) as within the scope of mental health treatment? Or in your practice of psychiatry do you always refer to the PCP for weight loss if you believe it is really affecting your patient's mental health would you offer semaglutide if no other serious medical issues present? As a new PMHNP I feel holistic treatment is the only real long lasting and truly successful treatment. I also believe I still have a great deal to learn from peers. I would treasure comments and thoughts or data. Thank you in advance.
