Net sown area refers to the area sown more than once in an agricultural year. The states of plain region in India like Punjab and Haryana have more percentage of Net Sown Area. Indian total geographical area is 329 million hectares. Out of this, 195 million hectare is gross cropped area and 141 million hectare is net sown area at present. In recent past the NAS varies between 139 and 141 million hectare so it is more or less stabilized. I think, it is a good indicator for advanced economics.
