According to the World Health Organization (WHO), while persistence in drinking-water is possible, there is no current evidence that coronaviruses are present in surface or groundwater sources or transmitted through contaminated drinking-water. Recent research activities have found SARS-CoV-2 viruses in wastewater treatment plants. It is widespread accepted that urbanized areas are widely subject to a lot of losses from sewers. Thus probably SARS-CoV-2 virus can be transported by means of sewer llosses and reach shallow groundwater systems of urbanized sectors. Is there anyone investigating the presence of COVID-19 virus in urban groundwater?
