I am a Brazilian professor and I want to make a survey with Brazilian university students about historical questions. I could apply the survey with my students and some other professors could also apply it with them students. But I know that this convenient method is not adequate to get a representative sample of my population (university students of my state).

I think that a better option is try to do a cluster sampling. So I would try to get a list of all university in my state and which university will be one cluster. Then I select the cluster by chance (SRS) and I cover the complete cluster. By this method I think I will get a representative sample, but I am not sure if I will get financial resources to travel for every university/cluster selected and if the university will allow me to apply the survey with all students.

Have anyone a cheaper and more practical method to design this sample? I also could use my professors network, but I am not sure if I will get a representative sample in this way.
