It seems, these coverslips is the only way to work with the culture of very unusual cells I use. Perhaps, somebody can advise me, where to buy? The googling was unsuccessful: if plastic, then auto-fluorescent, if non-fluorescent and plastic, then squared... There is no happiness in this world. )))

Cover slips should replace the bottom of wells in 24 or 12 -well culture plates to remove them with the cells attached for counting, staining etc.
Re- Thermonox: I've seen it too. Unsuitable. Rhodamin and Fitc can't be used for staining.

Commonly I use glass coverslips too. But these crazy cells specifically hate any glass surface. Do not attach at all. Many adgesive reagents were tested without any effect... but they like culture plastic.

have you had any success in finding nonfluorescent suitable round plastic coverslips? We face the problem that we want to bind antibodies to the surface to catch specific cells from a crude tissue preparation (immunopanning), so all the surface coatings don't help us at all and glass does not work...

I am sorry to hear. Why exactly do your coverslips need to be round? Is it a certain chamber they have to fit in?
We are currently investigating a method to cut round plastic coverslips from 24x24mm square plastic coverslips - I will let you know if we were succesful if you wish!
This should be great! Especially if your plastic coverslips can be fitted in the round wells of 24-well culture plates.
I would be interested to know about this, in particular cell culture treated plastic cover slips (12 mm), to grow cells on and then put into a recording chamber for patch clamping and superfusion. I have cells that don´t seem to "like" glass...does nobody produce these?
I found round plastic coverslips, sterile and cell culture treated on one side. The ones I am using are 13 mm in diameter. They work OK, although my feeling is that the glass coverslips are optically clearer. These coverslips are from Thermo Fisher Scientific, Rochester NY, and are called Thermanox, cat no 174950. They are thinner than the glass, so one has to be careful to avoid leakage in the recording chamber. Also, you can not put too much pressure on them, then you with get mechanical interference. I have been able to get gigaseals on cells cultured on these, but not a break-in in whole-cell. But that is probably for other reasons than the coverslips...
Johan, you are right, they are autofluorescent in the range between 380 and 545 nm. The thicknes is 0.2 mm. I can use them for my purpose but would be useful to know of any non-fluorescent ones.

Bringing up this old thread since I have the exact same problem at the moment; looking for small round plastic coverslips that could be placed in 12 well plates, are suitable for cell culture and fluorescent microscopy.
Has anybody found something like that or maybe a good way to cut them from bigger slides? I would appreciate any hint!
