In Indian politics, a huge amount of money is required to contest seriously even in a seat of M.L.A. (State Assembly).
For M.P. seats (Country Parliament), the amount may be a few times higher than that.
It is very difficult to earn such huge amount of white money to expend in this purpose from own pocket.
So, it may be the case that the persons want to contest in vote seriously are perhaps bound to compromise with corruptions.
These roots are perhaps extending their branches at different directions.

Very true sir the condition is so bad it is impossible to change. After acquiring qualification in any field you have to struggle a lot to get a simple job. But if you are having political back ground no need of any qualification you can go up to PM level. All the parties are same.

Roots of corruption are found in every sphere of our life. Especially in the developing countries, corruption is most evident in the political space and every sector of the economy.
When election is fast approaching, corruption is always on the high side.
Roots of corruption would be cut down if the responsible person admit that i am questionable. Nevertheless, the system of a state should filter such animal anomalies.

I think, Its not the Indian political system, Its us....corruption is within us. As far as I know the fee for a MLA form is nominal but we our self made a system, which need money. We made the system, we are the system and we modified it, only we are the culprits. We all wanted to be shine like the sun, but without burning.....so, we made the "corruption", actually we became corruption. I think we should start from our self.
The root of corruption lies in the economic system practice by the developed countries and imbibed by the developing ones. The struggle for power lies in the economic benefits.

Yes, the leaders spoiled the entire system for getting power. People also tuned for that kind of activities. If money is given then only they are casting votes. No idea where the society is going.

What to say about MLA/MP, now standing for village sarpanch in our areas is sometimes exceeding expenses of more than 10 lac.

Imagine if for such welfare designations of village levels,people are spending 10 lacs or more, then to recover it they will use every hit and trick.
This invites piles of corrupttion anf goes to extreme level at the state and then national levels.
In india no political party except one is showing sources of donations received and there is no body from income tax to look into.
The rules are only for common man esp govt.employees who have to shell out 20-30% and slight negligence invites fine and notices.

Thank you for unearthing the root of the canker of corruption in the spheres of politics. In fact, the high monies paid before applying for political positions is the first sown seed of corruption which will thrive and give birth to more aggravated forms of corruption. I have thrown aboard my towel for politics long ago because I know and I am convinced without doubt after careful scrutiny of both national and global politics that all politicians wear the same corruption attire but they just appear in different colours!
Undoubtedly correct - this is also my analysis. A few might be good.
I am shocked to see such an unwarranted question in this forum of Researchers and so many replies, even more than that of a Scientific question! I strongly discourage such questions in RG. There are numerous other platforms for asking such a political question on corruption. Please go there and ask whatever you want. Please do not tarnish the grandeur of RG.

Corruption is a very strong influencing dark power which taking out most of the effects of positivity or positive activities in many countries including India.
As per my concept, all of its ways and means MUST be disclosed in front of everyone, including researchers.
Many questions regarding corruption and its relation with politics are already discussed in the forum of RG from a few years back. Rather I am asking all the RG members to think over the matter seriously on the context of their own country as we are having a moral duty for our society as an educated person.

Question of corruption is not new in itself and since the very moment when a political society has been constituted, that is, a space that does not identify with individuals as such or with the private sphere of groups or communities, corruption has been a potential problem. Certainly not all political systems have given the same attention. It is interesting to note how the political office holder in almost all developing countries is revered by the same people who gave him the mandate. No matter the position he holds, the politician is seen as a liberator and the people look up to him to provide almost every necessity of life. The political office holder is practically accorded unimaginable preferential treatment in all walks of life. It is therefore not surprising to see people doing everything possible to win political power.
Aspirants for political position work hard and spends so much money campaigning during elections. Some therefore consider their position as a reward for their hard work and investment when they win power. Friends, family and acquaintances who helped in one way or other to win political power are rewarded variously in kind and in cash as well as appointment to positions in public offices of which they may not have the qualification. This situation has been the major source of corruption in many developing countries.
Corruption is more or less endemic, rooted in the political landscape of developing countries and there is the need for attitudinal change to combat it.

Electoral democracy runs by votes of the voters and financial inputs by people dealing with wealth in the society. Role of money should be minimised in the elections. So that ordinary but able people, can also participate as a candidate in such elections.
