The use of drones has become quite widespread in modern agriculture for different reasons: first of all for monitoring health condition of plantations as well as for collecting data relating to production processes; then, special drones (with loads) are often used to disseminate herbicides and other types of nebulising agents. I would like to share my view of point of the usage of drone in the smart agriculture from the perspective of micro-vision. Comparing the management of pesticides spraying before and after 2000 in China, not only the small-holder farmers but also the commercial farmers are using the drone to spray pesticide now which can assist them on getting rid of the drudgery, improving the productivity and decreasing the harm of pesticide directly.
Even in the rural area in China now, many of them start to use the drone to spraying the pesticide which is unimaginable twenty years ago. The small-holder farmers who can manage drone will not only serve himself but also serve other farmers. They can get the extra profit from this. Other farmers can employ them to do the pesticide spraying for them and it can free employer to earn profit via other means.
Finally, if it can be used broadly, it can increase crop productivity in a bid to grow the agricultural economy.

Here in Chile we are just starting with drone usage. I know that there are 3 types but only know 2 of them. We have drones for woods work, such as applying pesticides. And we have for pastureland study, such as viewing if there is any problem evaluating the colors of the field.
Now-a-days drone is used in modern agriculture in many countries. In a large scale agricultural field drone is used to take pictorial view of them to find out quickly if there any problem arises like attack of insects or diseases or any discoloration of crops etc. Spraying of fertilizers, pesticides etc. can also be done easily. Sometimes the crops grown in difficult/hilly/remote areas can be taken care by the help of done. In the case of rearing a big flock of animals it is easier to drive them with drone in a pasture land.

Adding a future (almost present) direction...Using images from remote sensing instruments like drones or satellites is a recent practice to approximate agriculture problems by image analysis. Recent efforts combine data from drones with spectral data from Landsat satellites and use supercomputers to handle the huge amount of data. Using AI (mainly Deep Neural Networks) they manage to distinguish the crops with even 95% overall accuracy just two to three months after planting.
Object recognition and classification from aerial and satellite imagery using DNN is a very promising area of research in agriculture as in-time accurate maps derived from high spatial resolution image analysis can determine growing conditions or threats to support best farm management practices on a local scale.

At USQ we are using imagery captured from drones and machine vision to detect weeds and create detailed spray prescriptions, reducing herbicide usage significantly. There are also many people working in this area using drone for phenotyping, plant health and disease detection.
