I submitted a paper to a springer journal. After 8 months, I received reviews from two reviewers and journal provided a time limit of 14 days to submit the revised paper. I submitted the revised paper in due time after addressing and incorporating comments of the two reviewers.
Now, the editorial manager is showing that revised manuscript is sent and accepted for review by three reviewers. However, initially there were two reviewers only.
Please guide how this is possible.

It seems different journals have different requirements so the particular journal for your manuscript may have that special requirement. If you want to clarify what the requirements are for THAT journal, I would contact the editor or editorial office for a further explanation.
The situation you describe has not happened to me before but may be due to your topic being very special and they often is not easy to find experts on that subject and now they can. It could be that one of them was away last time and now can be utilised.
