I am using data from Demographic and Health Surveys conducted in the last 20 years. Can I name my study design a "Retrospective cros-sectional"?
If you were collecting data consecutively in the last 20 years, this study doesn't seem to be scross-sectional. I think you need to give more detailed information about your study
The data was collected in a five year period using a cross sectional study design. I am then using four datasets each collected independently for own purpose. Let me know if this adds value
No it is not a longitudinal type. The surveys were conducted using samples of different respondents but of similar target population.
okay, then I think maybe it's a pooled cross-sectional study? and moreover I think the study type has something to do with how you plan to use the data as well. If the target population is similar (well I don't really how similar they are), your study might be kinda longitudinal when four independent investigations are taken together?
I think you can call it retrospective repeated cross sectional study because you said it you were using data five years apart in 20 years.
