Has the ResearchGate team ever considered to make scientific journals (open access, naturally) as part of the ResearchGate system? That is, ResearchGate also becoming a scientific publisher? Scientific journals which would be meritted like other journals and hopefully (very probably?) reaching out to a lot of research scientists and thus also obtaining high impact factors. Would you the ResearchGate members like that? I guess so. Noteworthy, there would be a lot of potential editors and reviewers among the ResearchGate members. Only one ResearchGate journal would probably be an all too wide journal, even to start with, hence there would probably be a need for several journals to cover miscellaneous scientific fields. With time the number of ResearchGate journals would most likely increase, at least if the first ResearchGate journals prove to be successful. These thoughts may also been seen in the context of the ongoing discussions concerning issues like traditional publishers versus open access journals and the uploading and sharing of publications within e.g. the ResearchGate system, various publication payment systems, the review process with its strengths and weaknesses, etc.
