I experienced how research promises your ability to analyze, criticize, and go deeper through a specific topic or generally in all aspects of your life. Somehow, database searching skills become attached to you, and the search becomes a belief. Being a student with basic research skills is a super WOW! Recently, I wondered to what extent is it true to give a student basic research skills? I mean: what about the integration principle in the educational process! When I am doing an article, the more I search for a topic, the more I discover missing visions. The answer here may be "try to find a supervisor" but, what if I have no professional supervision and it is a trial and error youtube guided learning process! Should I stop doing research and look for a supervisor? Or is it Ok to keep going till the professional supervisor appears?
If the second choice, what about statistics? I learn statistics principles from non-medical sources, either financial stat or data analysis courses. Both fields provide friendly beginner levels, unlike the medical stat courses, then I apply on a medical topic. To what extent is it true?
