research question: The relatively importantance of factors in students choise of disciplines (4 disciplines).
Objectives: 1. to determine the relatively importance of factors in students choice of courses to study.
2. to determine the relatively importance of factors in students choice of subjects within disciplines
3. to determine the relatively importance of factors in students choice of courses within level of complexity ( high or standard)
research design:
phenomenological approach, interpretevist theory, qualitative research, case study: questionnaire, interview.
If this methodology match my research question, could you suggest data analisys method?
About the question:
Objectives: 1. to determine the relatively importance of factors in students choice of courses to study. (do you mean the importance of some factors for the success or fulfilment of the course?)
About the appropriate method of analysis:
Here I suggest the first use of Phenomenological analysis of the transcribed interviews (to find themes and subthemes (Cf. George, Amadeo/Amadeus on phenomenology)
For a theoretical (scientific) analysis of the result obtained from the phenomenological analysis, you should use what Brinkmann and Kvale, Steinar calls theoretical interpretation of qualitative data, what they also call the third level of interpretation by means of relevant theories (in your case I suggest pedagogical theories of learning).
