One area you might want to consider is - research on how Telco / ISP / Cloud Service Providers can use Big Data Analytics to provide special / unique offerings or charge their IaaS, PaaS & SaaS different pricing based on users' usage pattern, unused non-peak period (to avoid wastage) etc.

1. Improving techniques of Data Analytics

Gather the Data, filter them on certain constrains and make use of them to make confident decisions.

2. Natural Language processing methods

Make use of NL - processing techniques to find out sentimental trends that can be used in business, politics, finance etc.

3. Big Data Deployment tools and methods

Conventional tools are not efficient enough to handle Big Data, a good research is needed in this field.

4. Improved Data mining techniques

Data mining is a technique to collect data from various platforms. Improved distribution crawling techniques and algorithms are needed to extract the data from various platforms.

5. Data Visualisation algorithms

In order to visualise the required information from the pool of data, powerful algorithms are crucial for accuracy of results.
