Research in Cloud computing

I wish to do my research on energy efficiency in cloud computing, to make it eco-friendly and so have been reading different papers related to virtualization, load balancing,energy efficiency,etc .But the more I read the more I am getting confused and am unable to identify where to start my project. Can anyone suggest anything on this?
