I am Sharon Gregoire, Family and Acute Nurse Practitioner at the University of Arizona Medical Center in Tucson Arizona and also a candidate for Doctor of Nursing Practice at Grand Canyon University.
I would like to know the process to request use of The European Heart Failure Self-care Behaviour Scale- 9 item for my direct practice improvement project ( study). I believe it is well aligned with my study intent and would appreciate hearing from you about how I may proceed with seeking approval for use for an academic nursing project.

If the scale has been published, you must get written permissions from the authors and the publisher. However, if the scale has not been published, you just need to get a witten permission from the authors. If you are included in the first case, please first contact the editorial office. The office will refer you to the copyright clearance center. If you cannot find a relevant category in the copyright clearance center, please email them. And explain them what you would like to do regarding the instument, please. In particular, please do inform them that you just need the instrument for academic advancement, not making a money, and will also cite the article properly. As I know, most of such a case can get a free permission from the publisher. Good luck to you!
