We have developed daily operational Surface Soil Moisture map over India which is freely available on MOSDAC web portal of ISRO for visualization, time-series analysis and downloading. Link is given as https://www.mosdac.gov.in/swi/. This products capture soil moisture dynamics (spatial as well as temporal) over India. I hope that it will be useful for your applications. Hi Sanjay,

You asked for satellite-based soil moisture datasets but have you considered using model-based soil moisture datasets? Model-based datasets have several advantages:

1) better performance on average (compare, for example, SMAPL3E to ERA5 in Fig. 2 of https://doi.org/10.5194/hess-2020-184);

2) better temporal homogeneity (less affected by changes in the satellite constellation);

3) longer records (ERA5, for example, covers 1979 to present).

If you really want to use a satellite-based soil moisture dataset, SMAPL3E is the most accurate dataset, but is only available since 2015. The ESA-CCI dataset spans a longer period (1978 to 2019) but is less accurate overall.
