A two-loop control approach is typically used for current and voltage control. The decoupling of the dynamic response between both loops is a need for this construction. The inner loop has to be quicker than the outer loop. The most typical configuration consists of an inner loop and a voltage outer loop.
Hybrid inverters are also less expensive than separate Solar PV inverters and battery inverters. When choosing a Solar PV inverter, consider the size of the Solar PV array or arrays, the DC voltage window, and the number of MPPTs supported by the Solar PV inverter.
When a microgrid is separated from the main grid and works independently with micro sources and load, it is said to be in islanded mode. These inverters must include anti-islanding protection and are capable of delivering AC electricity to chosen loads during a power outage.

The controller differs depending on the function of the solar inverter installed in the microgrid. grid-forming unit? grid-supporting unit? grid-following unit?
If the solar inverter is installed as a grid-forming unit, commercial products will not be available. Using a solar inverter as a grid-forming unit is quite difficult. This is only possible if there is another grid-forming unit that can provide continuous power.
Commercial products can be used as long as it is a grid-supporting unit or grid-following unit.
And, there seems to be a difference from the control of the solar inverter connected to the general grid.
1. It must be possible to command the active power limit value and reactive power reference value using communication. (Fortunately, this is a function that is possible with many solar inverters.)
2. Unlike large grids, the voltage and frequency of the microgrid will fluctuate over a wide range. The protection function setting of the solar inverter must be different. Also, the overcurrent protection setpoint should be reviewed.
3. Control method. If a solar inverter is used as a grid-forming unit, constant voltage constant frequency control or output power control with droop control is used. When used as a grid-supporting unit, grid-connected control with droop control is used. When used as a grid-following unit, general grid-connected control is used. In general grid-connected control, active power and reactive power are controlled separately, and the maximum output point tracking control of the solar cell module is possible.
4. Finally, the control scheme for islanded necessary conditions. Is it to prevent independent driving? Is it for solo driving? If it is to prevent isolated operation, it will be the same as general anti-islanding control. Conversely, if it is for independent operation, it should be possible to switch between grid-connected mode and independent operation mode. This feature seems to be difficult to find in commercial products.
