Wondering if any one has recent data on prevention of readmissions in the CT surgery population? I have been doing a lit search and found a few things, but it looks like this area too is ripe for more data?
Check in with Carolyn Swan, AVP Cardiovascular Service line or CarolAnne Capron-Reid, Director of HLV service line for UTSW. There are staff collecting this information for the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) database and others.
My database manager is away at the present time to give you current data, but my recollection our recidivism rate is ~ 1.2%. There is an article from a colleague of mine from a few years ago on this topic as well as a few others. See below:

We performed a few years ago a retrospective analysis of our database. We found a 5% readmission incidence (100 patients out of 2017 cases for a 6 year period). The main independent risk factors for readmission (logistic regression) were active endocarditis before surgery (OR 4,1; 95% CI 1,7-9,9), and new neurological déficit after surgery (OR:2,86; CI 95%: 1,3-6,4). Hope this helps
