Hello to everybody,

the so-called reactive dyes were designed to bind covalently the cellulose of clothes in certain conditions (in general basic pH and heat). I'm wondering if it's realistic to imagine that they can also react in a similar way with the agarose of the medium during for example an Ames test. Obviousy the reactivity is strictly dependent to the specific structure but is it lecit to assume that this reaction can probably take place also in milder conditions?

Attached there are two examples of chlorotriazine- and sulfone ethyl sulfate-based reactive dyes.

If someone would like to share his/her personal opinion it would help!

Nicola
