My research is about business model innovation undertaken by utilities (incumbents) cleantech (insuregnt companies). The research methodology is based on qualitative methods with semi-structured interviews of practitioners as the primary source of data. The case-study selection criteria and interviewee sampling criteria are delineated with well defined inclusion/exclusion criterion. I have addressed the ethical concerns around confidentiality and anonymity of the respondents. Moreover informed consent forms are also in place.
Discussion cue - The ethics committe want to know about as to:
- Who will give organisational consent ?
- How the researchers will know who to contact for organisational consent ?

My problem is not with informed consent and the general ethical concerns. I will get them covered.
The real problem I am grappling with is that the Ethics board in my university suggest that I should get organizational consent over and above the consent of the interviewee's consent. The usual process is to get the consent form signed by the Interviewee highlighting anonymity, confidentiality, privacy etc caveats. I have not seen researchers seeking organization consent from the organizations that the participant represents. It is definitely cumbersome if not impossible. Plus I think its not needed.
Would definitely appreciate suggestions from the community here.
