As it was our first or second (two periods) session, the exercises were basically focused on some technicalities of using the software on mobile devices while at the same time introducing quadratic functions.

The quadratic functions were given in vertex form and students discovered the effects of varying coefficients ( in algebraic representations) on the graphical representations.

In the next session, I’m intending to introduce quadratic functions in standard forms.

Another session will be dedicated for discovering students’ problem solving and critical thinking skills while using GeoGebra on mobile devices.

In would be interesting for your students to also work in the oppsoite direction. I mean, let them move the vertex and the intersention points of the function with the axis and see the effect on the coefficients.

A remarkable idea that deserves investigation.

Students tried examples where they were provided with the vertex and two points where the curve passed. All they had to do, was to find the algebraic representations of the functions involved through varying sliders that they constructed with the software.

Besides , I couldn’t find a command ( in GeoGebra) by which you can construct a parabola through 3 points.

Any way, what can students deduce here? Or what do you think can we deduce from students‘ work here?
