I'm going to do SVM using Python 2.73 and I wanted to know if anyone has used these packages before and what their experiences were. What are some of the strengths/disadvantages of each one? Also what would you suggest as far as anything that does optimization of the parameter space?

Sklearn has a GridSearchCV function which accepts a classifier and its parameters (e.g. C and gamma for rbf SVM) and then performs exhaustive type search to produce the best classification. You can then get the parameters that produced these results.
