Hello, everyone, I am going to measure the output voltage of PVDF piezoelectric film and according to the articles adding top and the bottom electrode is the solution. I am wondering about the interface between electrode and PVDF film. Can I use aluminum foil as temporary electrodes and measure the output voltage or I need special treatment like sputtering etc for electrodes to obtain an output voltage.

To calculate the electrical properties or output voltage (as in your case), proper electrods on the surface of the samples are required to form the capacitor structure. Using of aluminium foil will not give the correct result due to the interface problem. You can use any conductive paste or sputtering technique to deposit the electrodes.

Typically, the electroactive polymer such as PVDF is covered with graphite or graphene layers as conformable electrodes. The graphite or graphene layers can expand and contract with the PVDF and that is why represent conformable electrodes.
