I did my research in knowledge sharing specifically among Higher education academics. The trend (and most probably future works) would be in term of social media, personalities (the big five model), perceived cost and social network. Of course there are plenty of other variables, it should be based on your research problems and objectives.

And of course, there has been studies that tested knowledge sharing as a mediator.
