I am trying to write a thesis on corporate governance and firm performance but I am having no luck on Eviews. I have watched every YouTube video and still no luck. I keep getting error messages. Would anyone be able to have a Skype meeting or maybe explain in detail what I’m doing wrong. I have an excel sheet with 40 companies over 10 years with variables like board size, ceo duality, number of audit committees, etc and ive added a dependent variable (ROA) in the excel too. Then I follow the youtube videos on how to get a Hausmans test on Eviews and it comes up with many different error messages like ”no singular matrix” for example. But I don’t know what that means or how to fix it.

I think you should check your data:
please check data format in your data. also, check your variables and groups in your Eviews; you should look at how your variables correlate with each other, and if you have correlations near 1 or -1, these pairs probably are your culprits, and you have to get rid of one variable of each such a pair.
Ceo duality is always 0. Is that my problem? I can’t get rid of it though
