Under real field conditions, where one has only set of observations from ring infiltrometer (single or double rings) and does not have any other information in relation to soil & soil water potential parameters. What could be the best option to convert steady state infiltration rate (say fc of Horton) into a hydraulic conductivity (say Ks ). Researchers have touched this aspect, but I am eager to know the relativeness of their merits, to know the best way to accomplish such predictions.
This is a missleading conversion to use the soil surface infiltration rate in predicting the ks os the underlaying soil layer. Soil ks is an indicator of the actual natural below surface soil conductivity in the saturation state, where soil is assumed to be in its natural conditions such as compation, non-disturbance and water content. As for infiltration rate, the soil is in upnormal conditions such as saturation compaction and weather affects. The correlation between the two variables will be missleading.
